Recap- Running From My Past

Updated: Jan 17, 2024

A couple of weeks ago, you responded to the call and joined us for a life-changing experience at the first edition of Worship Anyway. The room was filled to capacity and we shared moments filled with laughter, tears, sweet worship and depths of intimacy in the Father's presence.

There are too many highlights to choose from but I'll share some of my personal top moments!

The team

It's hard to talk about the success of the day without acknowledging the team that made it all possible!

From Bee and Pete who held my hand throughout the ideation and planning of all the event details, to Marlon and Patrick who hustled hard to ensure the floor events ran without a hitch.

Jacqueline who was the perfect host of the day. She prayed with us, encouraged us and did not hesitate to heed the call- I honour her so much!

Of course the music wouldn't be possible without the band, starting with our amazing MD Isaac Mayaka, and the fire band including Joshua Mayaka, Elijah Mayaka and Juben Ukoko. Ruth and Tina also blessed us with their sweet vocals. Connor our sound engineer ensured that the sound in the room and on our live recording provided the best audio experience for us all.

The entire team at Stupid Old Studios was supportive and went to great lengths to accommodate the project vision, under the leadership of Emma.

Last, but certainly not least, are all the people who invested their resources into this vision. I may not name you all here, but know that I pray for you that God may help you increase abundantly in all you do.

The people

One of the prayers I made was for God to bring all the people He had an appointment with to Brunswick.

I trusted that He would do it, and true to His word, God did exceedingly above and beyond all I could have asked, thought or imagined!

We sold out completely, and sadly we had to turn a few people away at the door. Only God could have done this- all glory goes to Him!

What happened during the event was even more moving! You all came with open hearts, ready to receive from the Lord and in His faithful nature, He responded to that hunger!

I sensed a freedom break out across the room and the testimonies that have been flowing in since are a testament to the work that the Holy Spirit did, and continues to do.

Thank you for being there. Thank you for being a safe space for my testimony. Thank you for the love and support shown. I will never forget every hug received, every word of encouragement and

What's Next?

While I have many testimonies, my overall take-away from this experience is that God is faithful and He never wastes a hurt! He has turned my mourning into dancing again, He has lifted my sorrow!

Chapter 2 is definitely cooking, and we're trusting God to lead us in the way we should go. While the details are yet to be shared, all I can say is you don't want to miss this next one!

That's it from me for today's piece, so until the next blog, let's keep worshipping anyway!

PS- Have you listened to my EP 'Starting Over'? (Go on, don't be shy, click the link and add the songs to your playlists).

I love you guys but Jesus loves you waaaaaaay more!

Shiku K!
